Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In the following two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for Congress. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as fiscal tax reforms, and arms control. Mitchell traveled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions for summits, and to discuss matters like that of the Iran Contra controversy.
